Fitwel is the world's leading certification system dedicated to promote health in built environments.
It has a rating system of Three stars and Seven main factors that influence the scorecards of each project: - Impact on community health - Reduction of morbidity and absenteeism - Supporting social equity for vulnerable populations - Promoting a sense of well-being - Improved access to healthy food - Improved occupant safety - Promotion of physical activity.
Therefore, obtaining the Fitwel healthy building certification shows that a building is committed to improving the quality of life of its occupants and communities.
Eligible for certification are: communities, commercial and industrial sites, housing for older adults, workplaces, retail buildings, and multifamily residential buildings.
Until the July 15th of this year, after that date, project registrations under v2.1 will no longer be accepted.
Fitwel is committed to continuously innovating and improving. El Center for Active Design (CFad), operator of Fitwel, has dedicated himself to analyzing scientific public health literature with the objective of identifying new strategies and adjusting existing ones to align with the most recent discoveries on health, climate change, risk reduction and financial value in search of practical solutions to create healthier spaces.
The new version of Fitwel will be available to the general public from June 4, 2024.
It is worth noting that all these improvements are the result of a feedback process starting with the beta version released to a select group of users in December 2023.
