Altos del Rímac is a residential project located in Peru that achieved EDGE Advanced certification with a Final Certificate, the higher performance level of the EDGE system for projects that far exceed the minimum savings.
EDGE Advanced is the higher performance level of the EDGE system (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies), created by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. It requires minimum energy savings of 40%, plus at least 20% savings in water and in embodied carbon in materials, compared with an equivalent conventional building in the same location. The Final Certificate is issued once construction is complete, after an on-site audit verifies that the efficiency measures planned at the design stage were actually implemented.
Altos del Rímac exceeds 40% savings in all three categories measured by EDGE, an uncommon result that goes beyond what the Advanced level itself requires. This translates into homes with lower operating costs for residents and a significantly smaller environmental footprint.
