Project description

World Courier is a global specialty logistics company serving the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, with a presence in Chile since 1980. Its facilities in the country achieved LEED O+M certification at the Silver level.

Unlike design and construction certifications, LEED O+M (Operations and Maintenance), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, evaluates buildings that are already in operation based on their actual performance: energy and water use, waste management, occupant transportation, and indoor environmental quality, measured over a period of operation. The Silver level requires between 50 and 59 points.

What makes this project innovative?

LEED O+M certification shows that sustainability does not end with construction: it depends on how the building is operated and maintained every day. In a demanding logistics operation like World Courier's, this means integrating efficiency into the day-to-day management of the facilities.

The project stands out for:

  • Certifying the building's actual performance in operation, with measured rather than estimated data.
  • Incorporating sustainable management practices into a demanding logistics operation.
  • Establishing a baseline to track and continuously improve its environmental performance.

Project impact

With LEED O+M Silver certification, World Courier backs the environmental commitment of its operation in Chile with an international standard.
