Girasoles III is a residential development located in Mexico that achieved EDGE Standard certification with a Final Certificate. It builds on Girasoles II, also EDGE-certified, consolidating a housing model that integrates resource efficiency as part of its offering.
EDGE Standard is the base level of the EDGE system (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies), created by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. It requires minimum savings of 20% in energy, water, and embodied carbon in materials compared with an equivalent conventional building in the same location. The Final Certificate is issued once construction is complete, after an on-site audit verifies that the efficiency measures planned at the design stage were actually implemented.
Girasoles III stands out for far exceeding the EDGE minimums in water and materials: it achieves 44.42% water savings, more than double the requirement, and a 64% reduction in embodied carbon in materials, more than three times the standard's threshold.
