Refugio is a food hall located next to the Jockey Plaza Shopping Center at 4492 Javier Prado Este Ave., conceived as an innovative urban space that combines gastronomy, entertainment, and sustainability. The project is built using repurposed shipping containers and integrates approximately 700 m² of green space, establishing itself as a benchmark for eco-friendly architecture and conscious design in Lima.
From its inception, the project prioritized environmental criteria through the use of organic materials, low-impact construction solutions, and passive strategies aimed at reducing resource consumption. The architectural design promotes an open, flexible environment connected to its surroundings, enhancing the user experience and environmental comfort.
The space hosts over 20 food vendors—including Peruvian, Japanese, grill, and dessert options—as well as a bar, live performances, music, a children's play area, and a nursing room, making it a high-traffic social and cultural hub.
Refugio obtained Final EDGE Certification, validating that the sustainability strategies implemented meet the savings required by the standard.
The innovation of the Refugio project lies in its ability to integrate sustainability, material reuse, and urban experience into a high-turnover gastronomic format.
The project stands out for:
